‘ALAIKA BI TAQWALLAH

عَلَيْكَ بِتَقْوَى اللّٰه

قصيده عظيمه للإمام عبدالله بن علوي الحداد

عَلَيْكَ بِتَقْوَى اللّٰهِ فِي السِّرِّ وَالْعَلَنِ

Be conscientious of Allah inwardly and outwardly

وَقَلْبَكَ نَظِّفْهُ مِنَ الرِّجْسِ وَالدَّرَنِ

Purify your heart from filth and what is unworthy

وَخَالِفْ هَوَى النَّفْسِ الَّتِي لَيْسَ قَصْدُهَا

And do not take heed from the lowly desires whose aims is none other

سِوَى الْجَمْعِ لِلدَّارِ الَّتِي حَشْوُهَا الْمِحَنِ

Then to gather those who are afflicted in the abode of disaster

وَأَصْحَبْ ذَوِي الْمَعْرُوفِ وَالْعِلْمِ وَالْهُدَى

Remain in presence with the ascetic, the knowledgeable and guided

َجَانِبْ وَلَا تَصْحَبْ هُدِيتَ مَنِ افْتَتَنِ

Remain afar and keep not the company causing you to be crumbled

وَإِنْ تَرْضَ بِالْمَقْسُومِ عِشْتَ مُنَعَّمًا

Be contented with what is portioned and you will live a life of pleasure

وَإِنْ لَمْ تَكُن تَرْضَى بِهِ عِشْتَ فِي حَزَنِ

If you are displeased in what is pre-ordained, a life of sadness you will suffer

وَصَلِّ بِقَلْبٍ حَاضِرٍ غَيْرِ غَافِلٍ

With a heart that is present devoid of negligence, truly reach out (pray)

وَلَا تَلْهُ عَن ذِكْرِ الْمَقَابِرِ وَالْكَفَنِ

And do not be distracted from the remembrance of one’s grave and his shroud

وَمَا هَذِهِ الدُّنْيَا بِدَارِ إِقَامَةٍ

And this world is nothing but temporal and transient in nature

وَمَا هِيَ إِلَّا كَالطَّرِيقِ إِلَى الْوَطَنِ

It is nothing but likened to a path that leads to the country of the hereafter

َمَا الدَّارُ إِلَّا جَنَّةٌ لِمَنِ اتَّقَى

And the abode is none other but paradise for those who fear God and strive

وَنَارٌ لِمَنْ لَمْ يَتَّقِ اللّٰهَ فَاسْمَعَنِ

And the Fire is for those who do not fear God, so take heed of this advice

فَيَا رَبِّ عَامِلْنَا بِلُطْفِكَ وَاكْفِنَا

With that O Allah, treat us with Your subtleties and please suffice us

بِجُودِكَ وَاعْصِمْنَا مِنَ الزَّيْغِ وَالْفِتَنِ

By Your everlasting excellence, protect us from aberrations and tribulations

وَوَفِّقْ وَسَدِّدْ وَاصْلِحِ الْكُلَّ وَاهْدِنَا

And grant us success and make good in everything

لِسُنَّةِ خَيْرِ الْخَلْقِ وَالسَّيِّدِ الْحَسَنِ

Guide us on the path of the best of creation and the most noble in excellence

عَلَيْهِ صَلَاةُ اللّٰهِ ثُمَّ سَلَامُهُ

God’s blessings be upon him and coupled with His peace

صَلَاةً وَتَسْلِيمًا إِلَى آخِرِ الزَّمَنِ

Blessings and salutations in continuity till the end of time it does not cease

وَآلٍ كِرَامٍ ثُمَّ صَحْبٍ وَتَابِعٍ

And to his noble family, companions and followers

بِهِمْ نَسْأَلُ اللّٰهِ السَّلَامَةَ مِنَ الْفِتَنْ

By their blessings, we ask Allah to save us from all trials
