QAD KAFANI
(SHAY LILLAH YA SHAYKH ‘ABDULLAH)
شَيْ لِلّٰه يَا شَيْخ عَبْدُ اللّٰه يَاابْنَ عَلْوِي نَسْأَلُ اللّٰه
لِذُنُوبِي يَغْفِرُ اللّٰه اَلْمَدَد يَا اَللّٰه يَا اَللّٰه
قَدْ كَفَانِى عِلْمُ رَبِّى مِنْ سُؤَالِى وَاخْتِيَارِى
فَدُعَـائِى وابْتِهَالِى شَـاهِدٌ لِى بِافْتِقَارِى
The Knowledge of my Lord suffices me, from my asking Him and exercising my free will.
Hence my supplications and entreaties, bear witness to my utter dependence.
فَلِهَذَا السِّرِّ أَدْعُـو فِى يَسَارِى وَعَسَارِى
أَنَا عَبْدٌ صَارَ فَخْرِى ضِمْنَ فَقْرِى وَاضْطِرَارِى
It is for this secret that I beseech Him, in both hardship and ease.
I am a servant. I take pride in my poverty and subservience.
شَيْ لِلّٰه يَا شَيْخ عَبْدُ اللّٰه يَاابْنَ عَلْوِي نَسْأَلُ اللّٰه
لِذُنُوبِي يَغْفِرُ اللّٰه اَلْمَدَد يَا اَللّٰه يَا اَللّٰه
يَا إِلَـهِي وَمَلِيـكِي أَنْتَ تَعْلَمْ كَيْفَ حَالِي
وَبِمَا قَدْ حَـلَّ قَلْبِـي مِنْ هُمُومٍ وَاشْتِغَالِـي
O my God and my Keeper, You know the state I am in,
and what has beset my heart, of worries and occupations.
فَتَـدَا رَكْنِي بِلُطْفٍ مِنْكَ يَا مَوْلَى الْمَوَالِي
يَا كَرِيمَ الْوَجْهِ غِثْنِي قَبْلَ أَنْ يَفْنَى اصْطِبَارِي
Rescue me with a kindness, from Yourself, O Master of masters.
O the One of Noble Countenance, deliver me, before my patience fails me.
شَيْ لِلّٰه يَا شَيْخ عَبْدُ اللّٰه يَاابْنَ عَلْوِي نَسْأَلُ اللّٰه
لِذُنُوبِي يَغْفِرُ اللّٰه اَلْمَدَد يَا اَللّٰه يَا اَللّٰه
يَا سَرِيعَ الْغَوْثِ غَوْثًا مِنْكَ يُدْرِكْنَى سَرِيعًا
يَهْزِمُ الْعُسْرَ وَيَأْتِي بِالَّذِي أَرْجُو جَمِيـعًا
O the One Swift in Aid, hasten a rescue that will reach me quickly,
That will vanquish all hardship, bring all that we desire.
يَا قَرِيـبًا يَا مُجِيـبًا يَا عَلِيمًا يَا سَمِيـعًا
قَدْ تَحَقَّقْتُ بِعَجْزِي وَخُضُوعِي وَانْكِسَارِي
O Near One! O Answerer of prayers! O All-Knowing! O All-Hearing!
I have fully realized my incapacity, submission and contrition.
شَيْ لِلّٰه يَا شَيْخ عَبْدُ اللّٰه يَاابْنَ عَلْوِي نَسْأَلُ اللّٰه
لِذُنُوبِي يَغْفِرُ اللّٰه اَلْمَدَد يَا اَللّٰه يَا اَللّٰه
لَمْ أَزَلْ بِالْبَابِ وَاقِفْ فَارْحَمَنْ رَبِّى وُقُوفِى
وَبِوَادِى الْفَضْلِ عَاكِفْ فَأَدِمْ رَبِّى عُكُـوْفِى
I am ever a bystander at the door, so have mercy O my Lord,
as I stand in the valley of Your Grace, I am assiduously devoted.
O my Lord, so perpetually increase my devotion.
ولِحُسْنِ الظَّنِّ لَازِمْ فَهْوَ خِلِّى وَحَلِيفِى
وَأَنِيسِى وَجَلِيسِى طُولَ لَيْلِى وَنَهَارِى
I persevere on good account of my good opinion (of You),
which is my bosom friend and ally, and my consoles and my opinion,
all through my driving companion, throughout day and night.
شَيْ لِلّٰه يَا شَيْخ عَبْدُ اللّٰه يَاابْنَ عَلْوِي نَسْأَلُ اللّٰه
لِذُنُوبِي يَغْفِرُ اللّٰه اَلْمَدَد يَا اَللّٰه يَا اَللّٰه
حَاجَةً فِي النَّفْسِ يَا رَبِّ فَاقْضِهَا يَا خَيْرَ قَاضِى
وأَرِحْ سِرِّى وَقَلْبِى مِنْ لَظَاهَا وَالشُّوَاضِى
There is a need in my soul O Lord, fulfil it, for You are the Best Fulfiller.
Grant comfort to my secret and my heart, from its fervour and passion.
فِى سُرُورٍ وَحُبُورٍ وَإِذَا مَا كُنْتَ رَاضِى
فَالْهَنَا والْبَسْطُ حَالِى وشِعَارِى وَدِثَارِى
In a state of happiness and mirth, and if You are pleased with me.
Happiness and joy will be my spiritual condition, my hallmark and my raiment.
